By using Hurricane, Master Number Generators become a relic of the past, all Usenet networks have the ability to synchronize with Hurricane.

Illustrated in Figure 6 are several topology differences from Figure 5. Note how in-network bandwidth paths (Blue and Green) are now contained within each POP instead of connecting to the POP containing the Master Number Generator. Also note how all POP configurations are identical, any data center could disappear and the network would still function. The new Hurricane system in the center of the figure provides article number communication to all Cyclones in all connected networks.
