15.1. Introduction

With the introduction of Tornado, high speed, centralized authentication has become more of a problem. StormChaser is a front end/back end package that centralizes all of the important tasks of the authentication process.

Authentication requests are collected in parallel by front end clients, stormchaser_fe, and passed via TCP/IP to the stormchaser_be server daemon. Since the back end is unified, decisions can be made that affect the whole network.
